Speaking session on TOEFL is full of unique questions, like "Who's your favorite sports player in the world and why?", "Which book was the most interesting recently. Briefly explain the book and why you liked it" 😂
I mean questions are really easy, but I wasn't sure what they are going to ask actually, so uncertainty made me feel kind of nervous😟
But I was ready for that!
When I'm free and alone, I spoke English quietly like "My favorite sports player is ...." over and over (I'm sure I looked so weird from others haha)
However, this really worked for me!
Some questions I used to practice speaking English were in a test actually😲
Even if practice sentences didn't appear in a test, the solo speaking practice helped me decreasing grammatical and pronounce mistakes!
Thanks to that, I could do well in the speaking session👍 I was satisfied with my performance on the test!
Keep doing small things has made it possible to get a big dream come true!
I could take 70/120 on a test!
This score isn't clear for you, so to explain, this score is high enough to study abroad to most of the American colleges for a year!
I was pretty satisfied with it!
I wrote about my experience of taking the TOEFL test!
The way I practiced speaking English might sound weird, but you gotta keep working on it like that is really important when it comes to learning English
So, the next post would be about which college I go to!
The reason is as always, being too busy to write a blog lol
Anyway, it feels warmer than usual as people say it's "warm winter"
There's no doubt to say it's warmer than Oklahoma and NewYork I visited last year😊
From this blog, I will start writing a blog about the life change event happed in 2 years!
Let's start the story of the study abroad now🎉
That was an event full of joy and struggle, so I wanna share what I learned from that experience
Le's start our journey from the preparation for the study abroad👍
Firstly, I had to decide which study abroad program to join
There were multiple options, from some weeks up to two years.😲
To think about the price and cost, I chose an exchange program.
Some weeks ones were too expensive and you can't learn enough only in that term, so I felt they are the waste of time and money☠️
Of course, two years one was pretty mesmerizing to me, but that required me to pay fricken too much tuition. I didn't want to pressure my parent's finance, so I quite😅
As a result, I chose Exchange, because I can transfer credits and didn't have to pay tuition to the college I go to.
Even among the exchange program, there were multiple options.
Length of stay, a half year or one year, and locations.
With all those options, I decided to go to America for a year
Check this post to see why going to America was my desire
So, when I first heard a listening question of TOEFL, that freaked me out as I couldn't understand at all
Needless to say, my speaking was as horrible as hell.
I came up with sentences, but I couldn't organize sentences according to the proper grammar and pronunciations.
That was my first time when I felt so depressed not being able to do well on English😭
A lot of negative emotions came up to my mind.
"Was the time I spent on English study wasteful?", "Can't I go to study abroad?", "I can't make my dream come true", etc.
But I had a time when I looked back myself all of sudden.
I thought about "Why am I studying English?" and "Why do I want to go to study abroad?".🤔
Two ideas came up to my mind. "I wanna know the world I don't know" and "Wanna let more people know the greatness of Japan".
I re-recognized that learning English is a method and making those goals above is my value.
Then I started to work on making my score better by Figuring out what's the problem→Research how I can solve it→Utilize the solutions→Check whether solutions actually worked or not.
Figuring out what's the problem→ by taking a test, I checked which skills I need to put relatively more effort
Research how I can solve problems→ research on the internet and ask my friends good at English how they got to that point
Utilize the solutions→ Make a plan first and force myself do it
*There is no login in this part🤣 you need to push yourself mentally
Check whether solutions actually worked or not→take a test and see the improvement
